DESCRIPTION:Topics covered will include:\n* Interpreting chord symbols
 \n* \"Basic Survival\" Maj7, 7, m7, m7b5, diminished.\n* Beyond basic 
 survival: Instructor will give you progressions to make creative chord
  symbol interpretation meaningful.\n* Voice-leading\n* Applying harmon
 ic concepts to standard tunes like \"All the Things You Are,\" \"Stell
 a By Starlight\" and \"Wave.\"\n* Other aspects of melody-harmony rela
 tionships\n\nThe workshop will be geared for intermediate guitar playe
 rs and composers, though advanced level can also be accommodated. Part
 icipants should be able to read music in treble clef. While mostly a g
 uitar workshop (voicings will be presented on 6-string guitar), other 
 chordal instruments and bass are welcome. This workshop is ideal for t
 hose interested in composing, improvising and/or playing chord solos o
 r comping (accompaniment). Participants are welcome to e-mail Scott at

 t Boren has been one of HMT's guitar teachers for several years. He re
 ceived his Master's Degree in jazz studies from New England Conservato
 ry. He has performed in New York, Boston, throughout New England and E
 urope. Locally, Scott has performed at venues such as Twins, the 219 a
 nd DC Space. He has performed with many great artists over the years i
 ncluding Ray Copeland, Chris Bacas, Chuck Redd and Jimmy Giuffre. Scot
 t has been teaching for nearly 30 years, and has taught at such instit
 utions as Brown University, U. of MA/Amherst Division of Continuing Ed
 ., and at various music schools in the Boston and Washington areas inc
 luding HMT. He teaches melody, harmony and rhythm through pieces, theo
 ry, and listening. He uses principles of learning and cognitive psycho
 logy to make things more memorable. Scott is fascinated with harmony a
