Hi People!
Can anyone recommend an inexpensive acoustic amp? Is Behringer any good?
Thanks...Joe

Hi Joe,

I have a Behringer V tone gm 108 which works very well with acoustic...nice clear tone, is small and stores easily...it also has some pretty neat electric guitar features. I use it with a Mobile Rig for added adjustment, though it works fine without it. For the $60 it costs, it's quite amazing. Quite a lot of volume if you need it— 15 watts—volume knob only goes to 10, though.

I purchased an Acoustic AG60 amp 60watt at a local shop for $400. Although the amp is perfect for practice, I find it unsatisfying or slightly under power when performing in a band/stage setting with power instruments; drums and amplified electric bass. I'm open to purchase another amp with greater wattage; 80wats to 120watts or higher volume output. I did some online researched on the Marshall AS100D, Fishman, Behringer. The Behringer ACX 1800 is within my budget and has the wattage rating, but I could not find any reviews from players or experts about this model.
I am also looking for a good amp between $400 and $600.

Crate makes a series of acoustic amps that run from $100 to $400. I have the $149 15 watt model and I use it at church. Our church is small (300 capacity) and was built in the 1890s. Great reverb and carry of sound. If you need power and great acoustic sound for low money, Hartke makes an acoustic amp at 100 and 150 watt levels for $349 and $449. Sam Ash has both on-line and at a store near you.
Hope this helps.http://www.samash.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_AC75%202x5%...

I have a Behringer ACX 450 which sounds good. The knobs do feel a bit cheap and there is no line out which is a consideration if you plan to use it in a band situation and want to go into the mixing board. Another consider might be Ultrasound's 30 watt amp. The sound is certainly pro quality, they are built like tanks, but it is one channel, no mic input and no effects.

Thanks for the reply.
Have you tried the AG60 by Acoustic?
I have read the various write-ups on the Ultrasound amp. I must investigate further at my local music store.

Reggie,
Thanks for the reply. I am going to the Guitar Center store today to do some "tire kicking". I hope to come home with something. The last time I was there they did recommend the 15W Acoustic amp which was reasonably priced at $99.00. I was wondering if I should spend a little more and get one with more "bells and whistles"?

i play acoustic nylon and work as a pro ........ and i use a crate Taxi 30 W thats USA made (this model is discontinued) but they have Taxi 15 and 50 watt amps available......but they now made in east . so i guess they would be quite a lot more affordable..........added advantage is that they can run off a rechargeable battery....

i have not tried the newer models but my 30 W is a beaut and has a natural sound which is exactly what i seek.... i often play small shows with just the 30 W and get a wonderful sound ...... for bigger shows i just line it out ..........

peace and light

Keira,
Thank you for the help. The rechargeable battery model sounds like a great idea. I just really want to buy the right one and be done with it, that is why I am doing as much "research" as possible. By the way....Great Name!
With gratitude,
