I'm new to the forum and just wanted to introduce myself. Having never played an instrument of any kind I decided to learn to play the guitar. The kids have all moved out and you can only Facebook so many hours in a day. So on April 20, 2012 I purchased my first guitar. Going in to the store only knowing I wanted a solid top and my price range ($200-$300) I had the salesman start playing those that fit the bill, even going a little over budget. After he finished, I had pretty much decided on a Seagull S6 Entourage when I noticed a guitar for $299 on another wall that he hadn't played. I ask him play the same thing on both guitars with my back turned to him and I walked with a Breedlove Passport D200/SMP.
I emailed about 6-8 guitar instructors sending them a couple of youtube clips showing the type of style I wanted to play and waited for a response. I'm wanting to learn the percussive finger style of artist like Andy McKee and Antoine Dufour started lessons the following Friday. The first lesson was literally how to hold a guitar and a pick. The next three months consisted of mostly wax on, wax off type stuff. Now I'm finally beginning to learn songs and figure this out. Now the only problem is, so many songs so little time!
Have a good day!
