Hey there fellow pickers,
I have recently installed an active I-beam pickup in my Alvarez jumbo acoustic. It was installed properly, and has a very even string to string sound. However, I have amplified and anoying 'hollow' sound that I wasn't even aware of until after the installation. You see, the Alvarez is a beautiful J-200 copy with an adjustable bridge. After I had noticed the 'hollow' effect, I investgated and come to the conclusion that the strings ring out louder than the hollow sound when playing unplugged. I cannot find any problem with the bridge or the intonation saddles, I think the sound is coming from the bridge being suspended a little, simular to a Fender Jazzmaster.
Does anyone have a solution other than a sound hole pickup? Is there a solid replacement for the adjustable bridge that I have'nt seen yet? This guitar is copied directly off of a 1970's Gibson J-200, does anyone have one of those with the same bridge, that has had an internal pickup installed in it?
All or any of your help would be great,
Thanks, Jeremiah
