As a hand built in Sulpher Springs Texas they are considered to be a very fine guitars and are still made today.
Their earlier models, Flint Hills,Golden Era,Great Plains, and the Tennessee Flattop all were selling for around $350 to $750 and now can achieve as much as$700- up tp $2500, not sure where your model fits in as it is a new line made once they left Kansas.Ship
Don't know if you've had any resolution of your question, but here's my $.02........
Mossman made the Winter Wheat model from 1976 - 1981 roughly. The model was called the Flint Hills Custom from 1972-1976. The Winter Wheat model falls below the South Wind and Golden Era. There aren't many 12 string Mossmans out there so any would be hard to find. You can tell the year of manufacture by looking at the label inside the guitar and the two numbers to the left of the hyphen would be the manufacture year. I am not an appraiser but I try to keep up with Mossman prices. I would say your guitar in good condition could get $1500. I'm sure it sounds excellent. All mine do.
You might think that's a little low, but you have to remember that Mossman is pretty obscure and most buyers are more in touch with what the headstock says.
If you haven't already tried to get repair done may I suggest Scott Baxendale at ColfaxGuitarShop.com (he's the owner) or Steve Mason's shop at ask-a-luthier.com. Both guys worked in the Mossman shop and are very capable and know exactly how the Mossmans are built.
I would think you might get more than $1500.00 for yours, but do keep on mind that if you are the original owner your guitar has a lifetime guarantee and evn if these feloows mentioned worked at Mossman, it would void your guarantee, and I just think it would be worth the money to ship it to them, bellow is a link to a 6 stringer Winter Wheat and new it starts at $3200.00, hope you enjoy the pics.Great input. Thanx again, Paul.
