Welcome to the Acoustic Guitar Community.

I sand down the necks on my basses and refinish them with boiled linseed oil.  I love the feel and I play a little faster because of it.  A friend of mine picked up one of my basses to fool around on it and flipped out how good the neck felt on it.  He asked me if it could be done to his acoustic.  Not sure so I'm asking you guys.  Has anyone done it?  Should it be done?

For the whole neck, remove all tuners, strap pin if any, and tape at the ends of the heel and cap area.

Good luck.
