Permalink Reply by Jeff Hachtel on November 7, 2012 at 9:18pm I bought my Seagull because it was handsome, comfortable, and sounded great for the cost. I noticed that every time I went to the guitar store after I bought it that it seemed like my fingers were all scrunched up on the fingerboards. For whatever reason, I never thought to ask about nut width. I guess I assumed all guitars were the same unless you went to a classical guitar.
But... My buddy in the USMC had a Randy Rhodes model Jackson electric. It had a wider fingerboard on it. I still have dreams I'm playing on it now. Well, I've been wanting a new guitar and I went looking for a guitar with a wider fingerboard. In the process found out I probably had the widest fingerboard available (Seagull MG Cedar GT), except for this Peppino model. Now I want one!
Through this process of discovery I also figured out why some of my chord forms are goofy. I scrunch my index finger behind and between my middle and ring fingers on A, for instance. On my guitar I don't have to, I just do because that's the way I used to have to do it and it became a habit. Now I know why.
