Permalink Reply by Joe Greiner on April 15, 2012 at 5:34am Hi, everyone, I'm finally getting around to posting this after Jud suggested it, sorry it took so long. I found this guitar and was intirgued as I had never seen on quite like it. After much discussion on the comment board it was pointed out to me that the neck has the same dot configuration as the artist series, the tuning headsd are gold with pearlesent nobs like the artist series. I finally wrote to Seagull and this is what Michel Belanger had to say:

Subject: S6 Rosewood Hello, I recently purchased a Seagull S6 Rosewood CW SG from a music shop as
new old stock. I've never seen a Seagull quite like this. Has a cedar top and what appaears to be solid rosewood back,
the neck has the same dot configuration as the Artist series, also it has the gold and pearlesent tunning heads like
the artist series. I'm wondering if the sides are also solid Rosewood, or if this guitar was the precurser to the artist series.
any and all information you could provide me would be greatly appreciated. S6 Rosewood CW SG Serial# 99272439
Thanks so much, Joseph Greiner
Hi Joseph, The 1999 Seagull Rosewood CW has a solid cedar top, a solid rosewood back, laminated rosewood sides,
a mahogany neck, and a rosewood fingerboard and bridge. It was part of the Duet Series we had back then.

Permalink Reply by Jason Derrick on April 20, 2012 at 8:45am Cool, thanks! I was curious about the back and sides. For what it's worth, my main guitar has a solid rosewood back and laminated rosewood sides and, I'm not sure about you, but I don't think the laminate sides adversely affects the sound (particularly the volume) of the guitar. Thus, it seems like laminate sides may be a perfectly acceptable cost-cutting measure!
Permalink Reply by Joe Greiner on April 20, 2012 at 11:31am Jason, I agree. I think it's in the top and back. I recently played with my nephew who has my origanal S6 CW cedar top and wild cherry laminate back and sides, i cold definately hear the diferences, although one is redwood and the other wild cherry... but i'm happy with the purchase, I bought it off e-bay so At first i was afraid I paid a bit too much...but it was definately like new and i'm very happy with sound.
