Hey, watch the "old guy stuff". As a 50 something newbie I resemble that remark. LOL Really, I think that if your passionate enough about something, you can do whatever it is you aspire to. A few short years ago I knew three or four songs on the guitar. I can now play 30 or so and I don't read music. AG has helped alot and practice is really the key. Never give up, you can do it Marty

just noticed there is a Forum discussion for "old new guys." Go to Forum, look for the Beginners category, and click on "Can an old guy learn to play?"

Just got back from the weekly bluegrass jam and after 3 hrs I know so much more,(of how much I don't know) It can be a humbling experience. But a lot of fun anyway

Hi after reading this group the last day or two, I see I am not alone as a older beginner. I have messed around with guitars and keyboards for the last couple of years. However I was never very successfully till the past few months with the guitar. I have always liked the acoustic sound. I meet up with a group of guys that meet once a week and having to try and keep up has been a real learning experience for me. I look forward to meeting new friends and learning with them here in the group.
Look forward to seeing your post.

Groan!! (But I wish I'd thought of that!) Anyway, I think talking about ages is fine. Inspiring, actually.

Maybe we should have a rule: no discussion of age, only guitars.

If this keeps up, I hope nobody makes us start a group called "Old Newbs."

Dan,

I started at age 60, am now 62. I can play a little. You're 10 years ahead of me.

Play well.

Welcome Scott:

I guess I'm one of the newer players here at just about two years. While I was working up the courage to actually go to a guitar store my daughter and her husband joined forces with my wife and bought me one. God Bless them, it was the best damn Christmas present ever! By the way, I started at age 52.

Keep at it. I'm still not very good, but I'm way better than I ever thought I could be. Keep at it.

Hi scott I have 2 seagulls one is an s6 and the other is a ceder 12 I love the sound out of them. they have a little bit wider neck and i think they are pretty easy to play. I also have an Ovation and I think the Seagulls blow the ovation away as far as the sound goes
