Hi from BC Canada, I'm 30 and a complete newbie, well I guess I can say beginner now. I've got through the newbie basics. I can't play anything yet, I'm working on my strumming and chord changes and thinking I might just avoid all songs with an F chord. I spend most of my time on the net at guitar noise, they have a great forum and lessons there. I joined here because my interest is in acoustic and nothing more at this point anyway. I refuse to pay for lessons so having good resources and forums like this are great. I hope to contribute where I can but mostly just here to learn. Thanks for having me, see you around.
Cheers

Hello All,
I just found this group, although I've been a subscriber to Acoustic Guitar for almost a year. I played around with guitar a bit when I was a young teenager, but then discovered that girls liked jocks more than guitarists (in my hometown anyway!). So, thirty years later, I'm back trying to figure it all out. I think I'll learn a lot from the collective wisdom here.

Slainte,
Bruce

Welcome, Dean! Always glad to see another of us "experienced (in life) players" taking up guitar. Don't worry about being able to contribute; just have fun!

Hey All.........I just stumbled onto this site recently and would REALLY like to join your group. I've just turned 60 ( yes, that is years) and started to take up the git about 6 months ago at the urging of a friend that has been at this for over 40 years. He's my "coach" not teacher. Being retired I now have time and patience to learn something I've wanted to do for years. I may not be able to contribute a lot at this time, but I'd like to benefit from some of the discussions. I hope you people don't mind my intrussion.

Cristian, "God awful noise" became the Punk Music movement! You may be unknowingly starting a whole new genre?!?!?!? Edward

Thanks for the welcome Walt. Yes having fun is very important! I forget that at times especially when the fingers aren't working and I'm just making a god awful noise. When that happens I put the guitar back in it's rack and go and do something else. Sure I want to be a competent player but there is no law that says I have to stress myself whilst learning to play.

Welcome to the group, Christian. There are a lot of good discussions here, and hopefully we help each other add to the 3 "Ps" an "F" fur Fun!

Hello folks
I've just joined the community and discovered this group. I'm fairly new to the guitar, been fumbling around for about six months now, but despite frequent frustrations can honestly say that my playing is better now than when I started. I just remember the three 'P's' Patience, Perserverance and Practice. Good luck to everybody in their playing endeavours.
