WANT TO BUY: Alvarez MD350, must have 1-3/4" nut 2 Replies

I want to purchase an Alvarez MD350 with 1-3/4" nut. In my experience, Alvarez is notorious for changing manufacturing specs without notice: I've played MD350 guitars having the 1-3/4" nut I'm…Continue

Hey I realize that didn't mention here on the main board what I have. I have an Regent Dreadnought RD20U which I have designated as my drop D guitar. It has about as much depth as my Epiphone AJ-100 and it also sounds great! Now if I can manage to get an LR Baggs for this sweet axe (then all four of my acoustics will be plug in ready).

Hi everyone!  I just discovered this group today.  Since my number one  (And favorite) guitar is an Alvarez, I suppose I should join you !

By the way, did I mention that I love Alvarez guitars?  They just feel better in my hands.

I agree, if you like the guitar it was a good price to pay in my opinion. What type of strings did you go with? What style of music are you playing?

Cheers,
David

I know the AJ-60's were selling for $500+ before the summer of '09, when they were blowing out all the old models. I got mine for $299 that summer, as a blow out, and then got a price match for another $40 off.

I think all the Artist series models were originally selling in the $500 range. So to get it for $250 doesn't sound like a bad deal to me. The best part is, it's something you're enjoying, and you can't put a price tag on that.

it looks like laminated mahagoney for the back & sides, but i was wondering, think i paid a decent price for it?  i know its after the fact, but it is a nice guitar & im happy with it.  just  curious as i didnt see anything to compare it to.

I have the AJ-60S. My guess is, it's solid Spruce top with laminate back and sides (not sure of the wood for the dreadnaught). Mine being a jumbo, it's laminated maple.

Not sure what else you might want to know. You're closer to it than I am. ;-)

Randy, best I can figure is our guitars are model 5013s from the 80s, but no exact year. Love that guitar, got it used as well, and it gets better with age.

Robert, that is something Alvarez is going to have to work on. If there are no guitars to play in the stores, no one is going to lay out the cash to buy one.
