Ah, why can we co-ordinate our scheduling on these things,
I'll have to take it up with
'Management".

That night I'm playing with The Shimmy Sisters (!) in San Francisco
at the Polenge Lounge.

Their loss is our gain.

A couple of truly world-class guitarists who are touring through the area in the wake of the recent Healdsburg Guitar Festival had a gig fall through for this Friday night, so we are flinging together a house concert for them at my place in Larkspur this Friday night at 8:00 PM.

Todd Hallawell and Robin Kessinger are both truly astonishing guitarists. Fingerstyle, flat picking, they do it all, and all spectacularly well. In fact, Todd is a former finger style guitar champion at the Winfield competition in Kansas. If time and inclination converge for you anytime soon, please do hang virtual 10 on over to:

Really and truly, friends, this is an opportunity not to be missed, if you can, as it were. I have been listening to these fellows' new album, and I'm completely knocked out. Come on by if you can, and please spread the word to your guitar-loving friends. Let's see if we can save the day for these fellows. This will be a Bring Your Own Everything event, and we will simply pass the hat with a suggested donation of $15 apiece. For those that don't know, parking in my neighborhood is just a bit tight, so carpooling is encouraged, of course, and whatever you do, park inside the white lines, even if it means leaving your car down in the flats and walking a few yards up the hill.

What a gas.

I just saw that there is a group here for fellow guitarists from our area. Had to join. I'm in San Jose. I've only done 2 public performances, first one in June 2007 at a coffee house in Willow Glen (4 songs and went very well) and then right into the fire with a 5 song set at the 2008 International Rust Fest last October. Played to a packed house of Neil Young fans from around the world and had a lot of fun! Hope to get out and play some more. Stop by my profile and check out my original songs. Cheers, Gil

I dd it. I went to Mission City Coffee and signed up. I didn't get my name drawn but a nice guy learned it was my first time on stage and gave me one of his song slots.
How did it go? Well I played CCR,s Who stop the rain. I think I played well. But my voice was low at first. Just not used to singing into a mic. They all clapped and made me fell good but I'm still a newbie and I will just keep practicing. That was two weeks ago. I had to work the following week but this week if I get it together I might do it again.
Its harder than public speaking. Singing and playing an instrument. I never knew how hard it would be till just before my turn. I was tuning up when I realised I was so nervous that I couldn't hold the pick between my fingers.

For all of you that sing and play in front of a audience, my hat is of to you.
Great experience.

Hello all!! I am going to be working with Antoine Dufour in August for the Luthier Festival at the Wells Fargo Center on the 14th-16th. He is playing a show with Don Alder at the Russian River Brewing Company the night of the 16th and I am trying to get him some shows around the Bay Area. Does anyone have some good ideas where Antoine could play? I want to have him play in Sebastopol, Fairfax, SF, Berkeley and maybe in the South Bay. If we get enough good venues, there is a possibility that Craig D'Andrea would be joining him. Any suggestions would be great as I am working with the record label to start the bookings ASAP. The dates are from August 17th- August 23rd or 27th if we get a lot of shows. Thank you.
