Hello fellow Buckeyes, Joe here in Cleveland. Here's a link to my first (and so far only) Youtube video, and to my CDBaby page.

I play fingerstyle and my primary passion is traditional Folk Music, but I enjoy many other styles as well.

I just heard of this group and since it says Buckeye in the title along with something to do with music I couldn't resist. Besides Sam invited me to join. I have been around guitars a while but I am still learning every day. I play a lot of coffee shop gigs (and some praise & worship for one of the readers). Mostly classic rock - Beatles, Moody Blues, Clapton, Animals, Stones, Kinks, Doors, you get the idea. I do all these on acoustic and have had to re-arrange a few songs accordingly. Songs like Sunshine of your love done on one acoustic and a set of hand drums doesn't exactly cover the original.
I live near Akron. I buy and sell guitars so I constantly have a handful of various guitars. My mainstays are a hand build guitar by Tom Doerr, and an Alvarez MF1000 and a Michael Kelly Patriot Phoenix electric. I have had some very nice guitars along the way
I may be good for some kind of Columbus gig. I work a lot but may be able to break loose some time. I will look for more details.
Do we ever share tips or tabs? Is that even legal?

Okay guys and gals,
I'll start calling places in the Columbus area. especially places that have food and drink (we won't be having alcohol unless you show us that you are NOT driving). I know there are many places with private rooms for small "get-togethers".
Maybe we can go for some time in the early fall. What time of week would be best for most of y'all? Sat. afternoon/early evening? Sunday? A week night?
Post a comment and let me know if you want to join us and when would be best.
Richard, I notice that you also play mandolin. Sure would be cool if we could play Rod Stewart's "Maggie May". I already know the guitar and vocals. That song has such fantastic mandolin.
Thanks guys and gals,
Sam Lester

Hey pickers, I'm back. Wife had been ill, but now better. Ready for vacation in Nazareth Pa. Martin Guitars, for a week with friends. Picking and grinning will ensue. Wife and I starting an Americana group called Cedar Bridge. Good to be alive

That sounds like fun. I live in Obetz so I am available anywhere around Columbus.

Hey Buckeye Pickers,
I haven't heard much from any of us lately. We need to get more than 21 people involved.
I had another one of those great (by my own standards) playing days toay. Everything sounded real good to me.
I've learned a couple of songs of the late, great Dan Fogelberg.("Make Love Stay" and a fingerpicked version of "Leader of the Band") I've now learned about 6 different Everly Brothers songs.(most recently "Walk Right Back" and "Wake- Up Little Suzie") Now all I need is a brother to sing them with. (or a sister). I'm trying to save enough to buy a Digitech or Electroharmonix vocal harmonizer.
Those things are absolutely amazing. I saw the Digitech model at Guitar Center on Morse Rd. in Columbus. I was blown away!
So, ya'll keep in touch. Maybe before the weather turns cold again, we could have a jam session in a central location...... Columbus?

Keep pickin' & grinnin'!

I am 53 so same time frame. America, Eagles, Steve Earle, Rodney Crowell, Kris Kristofferson are some of the ones I still like thier new stuff as well as the older. Some of the newer stuff I like is Chris Knight, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Reckless Kelly, Jason Boland and Robert Earle Keen and a lot of the Texas music that you never have a chance of hearing on regular radio.

I also absolutely love Everly Brothers, Righteous Brothers, Beatles and Eagles. (I just thought I'd better include them. Thats about it for now.

Talk to you soon,
