Hate to see these groups fall into Internet oblivion for lack of use.  Is information like this for festivals, recitals and acoustic jams in Ohio being posted elsewhere?

Haven't seen a post since end of May . . . is the season over? Anything good coming up late summer/fall?

The show to go to every year is the MACC. Hoover Y-Park in South Columbus/Obetz area. This is the ultimate Bluegrass fan weeklong party! Go to www.bluegrassclassic.com to see the line-up. The facility has showers, food and is close enough to everything. People start camping the Sunday before just to get the party started and the all night jams can't be beat with the line up of who's who in Bluegrass!

Springfield has a arts festival every year  June-July. It might be too late to sign up as a band but you can come to check it out. It is FREE!

The weather just turned nice and I'm looking forward to hearing about events in Ohio for this year!

Hey Group: try not to miss the 10th annual Woodchoppers Ball in Kent on December 11. Ten (count 'em: 10) acoustic guitarists: Briank Henke, Pete Huttlinger, Mark Sganga, Patrick Woods, Kerry Kean, Helen Avakian, Shohei Toyada, Major Lee, Joe Rollin Porter, and emcee Charley Brown. Proceeds go to the Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless.

Good news! Heights Guitars, in Cleveland Hts. is live and well! This shop is my favorite in North Eastern Ohio, and us locals were worried it might go out of business when the owner, Greg Stiles passed away last year. But some great people bought it out and saved it. They kept the same friendly vibe and are adding new stock and lines. The service department is still first rate, too. I just came back from getting my Rickenbacker set up there and they did a great job on it. So go check them out!

Welcome new guys and gals! Sounds to me like we are getting some very talented people in this group. (John Horne; your guitar work is really nice)
For those of you that love old rock-n-roll, I saw Phil Dirt and the Dozers again last night at Portsmouth River days festival. If you love rock-n-roll, you've got to see them. They are FANTASTIC! They do Four Seasons, Beach Boys, Elvis, Sam Cooke, Platters, Eagles, Orleans, Johnny "Guitar" Watson, Allman Brothers, and many, many others. What separates them from most oldies groups is that they are, in all instances, actually better than the originals. You
absolutely cannot sit still while you are at their show. I saw "old geezers" dancing with groups of teenage girls. My daughter (in Westerville) took a rock-n-roll course in college when she went to OU. She loves it. I can't wait for her to go see the Dozers with me.
Anyway, when do you all want to set up a jam session? I really would like to before it gets cold. If we can get maybe 10 or more to attend somewhere around Columbus, I'll make arrangements. (I'm retired, so I do have the time to put into this.) I was thinking; a Saturday or Sunday in October; maybe at a restaurant, hotel, or American Legion, starting at around noon and ending when our fingers can no longer play. Maybe the 2nd or 3rd weekend in October would be great. Please all of you, respond. I know 3 or 4 of us that said they'd attend. I want to start calling places next week. Let me know so that I can get an idea of how many people to set up for. GO BUCKS!
Hope to see you soon,
Sam Lester

Hello fellow Buckeyes, Joe here in Cleveland. Here's a link to my first (and so far only) Youtube video, and to my CDBaby page.

I play fingerstyle and my primary passion is traditional Folk Music, but I enjoy many other styles as well.
