Epiphone Wood? 28 Replies

I'm hearing from many musicians, people who run instrument shops, etc. that Epiphone uses cheap Asian wood. I know that the company is not the same it was when it was American with Greek luthiers,…Continue

Blueberry, hmmm. They look interesting. Don't know if I would buy one without playing it first, since the information about them is limited. Alas .. this is an epiphone thread.

... not counting my Blueberry guitars.

I've had good luck purchasing guitars from e-bay.

I have bought 3 off of eBay with no problems including my Martin OMC.

But note your mileage may vary - that's my disclaimer.

Yes, I think I'm going to go for it. I have an Epiphone 75 hollow body I'm going to sell so it will offset the price of the new one.

Check out the "Buying on Chance" discussion in the "Guitar Collectors" group...

I've bought 2 on "chance" now - my Giannini Craviola (pretty much total chance from Amazon), and my daughter's Walden T550 (informed, researched, and Jud checked it out for me chance from "Hole in the Wood") - had great results with each!  My friend bought a Seagull 25th Anniversary from someone in this community - informed chance - and that was a great guitar, too...

Go for it!  And if you don't like it, maybe you can sell it for a tiny profit (or no loss...) ;-)

I own an AJ500 Masterbilt and love it. Being a jumbo it projects and sounds great.

Yes, he has a return policy and has 100% feedback. I shop on Ebay a lot and I'm a pretty savvy shopper. Just never bought an instrument on line. but for the price, thats basically half what I would pay up here in Canada I think I might just take a chance.

Shoot!!!!!! Typo, so sorry folks lol!!! That should be $450. I saw the same guitar in my music store here in Canada for $775. It plays like Martin but its not the one on line. The quality of this particular guitar is amazing, even for the $775 price. It looks and plays way above its weight. I have too many guitars now but really, what is one more????
