That's a great idea.  Yes, they are programmable. Actually, I don't use the one, they setup for the phone, because it doesn't seem to help much.  I like that idea, maybe I can get a setting tuned so it brings my guitar out of the clutter.

Hey, Phill. I wear hearing aids, too. When programming them, I took a guitar into the audiologist's office and we played with a special setting, one of three available, to optimize for the guitar. It also helped with background "clutter noise". Are your aids programmable?

@Cliff,

I know you're right, but I have a bit of a problem hearing-wise.  I need to use my hearing aids, and fm transmitter to actually hear what I'm doing.  In most coffeehouses, they are really loud to me.  All of those grinders, and expresso machines confuse the heck out of me.  See the thing about hearing aids is they amplify everything equally. So, I get lost pretty easily.

But, I suppose you're right, I should just do it, and if it doesn't work out, well, that's OK.

Hi Phil,  The best thing to get over the nerves of playing live is to just do it, and have a half mile when you do.  I first saw Kenny Sultan do that and I later realized why - if you're smiling it's hard to beat up on yourself and let the mistakes snowball.  The other thins to remember is that unless Laurence juber can't get enough small coffe shop entertainment... no one in the crowd can play anywhere near as well as you and I can guarantee you they will be impressed.

Joseph, you got that right!  Actually, just playing at home mostly.  Every now and theni I get together with some folks in a player circle.  Various levels of musicianship, and we all take turns playing songs.  I was asked to play at a couple of local coffee houses, but I'm still a bit lacking in confidence to do it.  That's why I got a recorder, so I could hear and improve to the point of actually playing for folks other than my wife, though she is apprciative and enjoys my warbling.
