Acoustic Guitar Community

Welcome to the Acoustic Guitar Community.

Hi folks. I'm still finding my way around the site. I had originally posted this over in the Players forum. Then I found this here fingerstyle players forum. Seems more appropriate over here. My apologies if you already read the other post.
------------
If you're looking for some seasonal music, I've posted a transcription of my arrangement of We Three Kings at my web site. It's how I thought the tune might have sounded at Christmas time in the household of the great jazz pianist Dave Brubeck. Hence I've renamed it Take 3.

You can find a transcription, video and mp3 download at my website. Just point your browser at www.BobEvansGuitar.com .

Thanks and best wishes for the holiday season.

Nice website Bob, but it didn't get into your post above.. it is just www.bobevansguitar.com for those who might wonder. I've seen you perform a number of times.. Great stuff.. In particular I love "Dune" It's a great tune. Thanks for that cold weather from SK.. We got it here in Toronto yesterday :) Ron.
Great stuff, Bob. That really swings. Love yer style, compadre. FYI, I've taken to playing at least some of The Slippery Slope as a prelude to Petrified Man. Works great.

AG folks, run on over to Bob's site and snag the tab, notation and MP3. Yow. And if you are looking for Christmas gifts for the guitar-heads in your life Bob's CD "The Voice In The Grain" is hugely and highly recommended. That's not to say the others aren't great ... it's just the one I know best.

Picky, picky, picky.

Yo Ron and Stevie. Thanks for kind words and catching that problem with the website address.

By the way, for those that have their Christmas shopping done and some extra time on their hands (probably only the women on this list), the transcription and mp3 for Dune (the tune that Ron was referencing) is also available for download at my website .

Stevie. Thanks for the endorsement of The Voice in the Grain.
I've been picking through your arrangement of "Angels Who Are High", OWTTE. Open G, my favourite tuning outside of standard. The People's key.

Nice harmonies on the third chorus. And I love your notation for the "LH Hammer from nowhere" in measure 52. I've been looking for some way of notating or describing that very technique. Your description fits it perfectly and is much more concise than the essays I wind up writing.

And Ron, you're welcome regarding our gift of cold weather. You know we Westerners always like to give the Big Smoke the cold shoulder. :-)

We have lots more to share with you. Just let us know when you need it. It's -33C this morning, which is actually warmer than it's been for a couple of days primarily because there is no wind chill this morning. The windchill was -47C on the weekend.

Finally, my apologies to the group for having posted this as a discussion. As I peruse the site it seems I should have sent a Comment instead. I learn slowly.

Onward and upward.

I'll add in to Ron & Stevie's comments by syaing that Bob's first CD "Caffeinated Coffee" is killer as well. When you add in his Beatles tunes CD " 4 on 6", you have the perfect Christmas gift.

Hi Greg and Joe. Thanks very much. Sorry for the delay in responding. 'Tis the season and all that.

Greg, I'm playing a Travis Williams. Built by ... uh ... Travis Williams of Ardmore, OK. You can see his work at his website www.travisguitars.com .

The one I'm playing is #10. Cocobolo back and sides and spruce top.
