Fingerstyle on a classical guitar - here's a link to my new video, 'Questionable Waltz' which attempts to cross pollenate two guitar styles:

Please let me know if you enjoy it...

Thank you,

I have been playing AT the guitar for over 30 years with minimal improvement or  focus. About a year ago, I discovered Mark Hanson's Beyond Basics and also his Contemporary Travis Picking instruction books.  I have worked my way through those and am beginning the Art of Solo Fingerpicking. I find the later be be every bit as professional and compelling as the prior books.  I also have the How to Arrange Fingerstye Guitar Solos DVD and cannot wait to tackle that as well.  All I can say is thanks to Mark for reawakening my passion for fingerstyle playing.  Now, I simply cannot put my guitar down.

Hey, nice Mark.  We've been waiting for this one.  Thanks!

Hi folks, If you have a moment and are interested in learning to arrange your own solos, you might read Dr. Dave Walker's review of my recent How to Arrange DVD. Dave's site has lots of interesting info for fingerstyle players. Thanks. http://davewalkermusic.com/page4/MH_ArrangeFingerstyle_Review.html

I've been having problems with skin splitting at the corner of a nail, last month it was my left index finger but I solved that with useing differant chord shapes, now I've got a split on the lh side of my right thumb stopping playing seems the only option. It might sound heretical on a fingerstyle forum but how I wish I'd persevered with a plectrum!!

Hi Paul;

Thanks, I'm going to give them a try. Went by Guitar Center last week but forgot to buy a set of them. I've been letting my nails grow longer on my picking hand and getting use to using my natural nails and then I was going to try the Alaska Piks because I also now have longer nails too.  :)

Thanks for the tip.

Hey Gary, give the Alaska Piks a try. You can shave or cut them down quite a ways to suit your needs. Your own nails need to have just enough length to poke through the Alaska Piks so they sit nice and snug.

Best of luck, whatever you  decide

Greetings fellow pickers! I you happen to be in Cali this summer, our little workshop could be the ticket!

Thanks, Mike
