Actually the floss idea came from a friend of mine and I just convert it to what ever it serves and pass it on. It is the way they remove the letters and emblems on vehicles before they paint them.

Thanks Ed for the "floss" tip, it worked with a very faint outline of the G's still somewhat visible, I will slowly work on that and see if I can remove all traces of them, Greg.

Geo Gobel was quite the funster. i clear my search history daily so i do not have the URL i once saw. Never mind. If it comes around again I will save it and try posting it again.

Speaking of Gibsons: A Pittsburgh friend is giving me his spare copy of James Taylor’s October Road when I go down there next weekend for the Vintage Grand Prix. A mid-60’s, V-12 Ferrari being revved up is another sound, like no other, that sends me.
Thus inspired, I have been reviewing Taylor’s entries on you tube, which in turn reminds of meeting him after a performance with the Pittsburgh symphony (black tie no less) probably in the 1990’s.
The handful of fans who waited interminably outside the stage door ultimately got into this impromptu round-table with Taylor saying where they had first seen him. Being the senior member of this instant group and coincidently the last to speak, I smugly said “Royal Albert Hall, 1970”. That caught his attention. He fought back a smile saying “Hm, that goes back a while” I was hoping for more of a response, but c’est la vie. Nonetheless, it was fun. He was a very unassuming fellow who had changed into bib overalls.

Too bad. It wouldn't have been the same as a guitar Clapton has owned, but if it had been Lonesome George's, it would have erased in my mind the detraction of the GG on the guitar and turned it into an eccentric plus. But then, I can't afford to buy a guitar now anyway. Still, there might be others out there who, like me, remember the George Gobel show and his appearances on other shows fondly.

I do not believe so, This was a Georgia native in the music scene back in the 59's and 60's. Greg

Greg is the George Gobel of the J-45s "GG" fame the fellow who was a comedian on TV in the 50s -- Lonesome George?
