Welcome to the Acoustic Guitar Community.

I have a  question.  If I am using an "active" VST plugin like Antares Vocal or Presonus BBE, on the final mix will the computer record the effect?  If I mix it down to an MP3 the effect does not seem to work.  I am guessing that those type effects only work in real time, meaning the effect only works when you play file with the effect engaged, you can't record the effect.  Anybody have any experience with this?

I don't think I was completely clear. I meant to say I can't seem to save the file with the effect engaged. I can play the file into a recorder and record it that way but I want to save the original file with the effect. Any Thoughts?
First of all. NEVER mix down to MP3. Mix it down to wav. It just sounds better. Afterward you can convert it if you like. MP4 AIFF are much better formats.

What software are you using?
I am using Real Band and Sonar. I usually do mix everything down to a wav file and then convert it. When I mix it down to a stereo file, any format, the "active" VSTs like pitch correction or exciters don't seen to work. Any thoughts?
There's not an option when exporting to include effects?

I use CuBase LE, so I can't speak for any other software, but for me, when exporting to a wav, or mp3, or whatever, one of the options is to include effects. That's why I asked the question.
