Welcome to the Acoustic Guitar Community.

I'm thinking about having a name engraved on my oval hole's truss cover. Anyone know how I go about that? I could also just have a small plate made, but I don't know where to go. Jeweler, trophy maker. etc? Any thoughts?

Hi Kerry,
There is a parts company called First Quality Music Service (FQMS.com) and they can engrave a new one you. They can engrave just a name or some decorations or both! Very cool! This way you can take the one that came with the mando and store it in case you eventually decide to sell it and want to replace the original.
Here is the link:

Call their customer service number (on the website) and ask about custom engraving service for the truss rod covers.
Let us know how it comes out!

Thanks again, Edward. This is the 2nd bit of great info you've given me. I owe you a beer if we run into each other.
Kerry, I think my custom made GUILD truss cover is original and simple. I did it by myself. Bell shape, ebony glued on brass and .....my last wisdom tooth engraved in the middle! Here's a picture.
