Good turnout and good music at Wake Zone Espresso last night. It proved to be a nice venue for my mic'ed up nylon string guitar. Jud, as I suspected, I won't be able to make the Unitarian Church tonight... next time!

Very nice evening out on the patio at "City Tap" in Pittsboro last night.  Lot of good music and enjoyed meeting up with Bob DeVellis and Michael Baryla.

Headed for "Wake Zone Espresso" tonight for open mic and then on Friday, to Unitarian Church in Raleigh.

Busy week!!

I hope a little chatter across guitar groups is okay.  I recently joined the Raleigh/Durham Guitar Meetup group and was really enjoying getting together with other folks to play and swap tunes.  Unfortunately, the host of the Durham Learn and Share session had to bow out until next Fall because of work responsibilities.  I'd love to see something get going in Chapel Hill or nearby.  I could host but because I'm not a singer and only a so-so guitar player, having a more experienced person to share leadership duties with would make sense.  At the Durham session, most people played and sang and I really couldn't lead activities like that very well without a singer present.  But I could host the event at my house (my wife is on board with the idea).  If anyone has any interest or knows of anything similar that's already around, please let me know.  There seem to be plenty of open mics but I'm less interested (and less comfortable) in performing than in just sharing music informally.

I think I'll check out the City tap tonight.  I was there a couple of weeks ago for the first time and it was fun.  I'll be listening, not playing.

Will do. We played on the patio this past Wednesday for the first time this year. The weather was perfect and, like most of the recent weeks, the open mic was well-attended.

Yes, and please tell Karl and Josh that I apologize for being MIA for so long from the "Tap" ... keep meaning to go and keeping not doing it.  Are they back out on the patio yet??

Jud, thanks for posting the news on Wake Zone Espresso.  I'm happy to learn they are starting the open mic again. I'll pass the news along to the regulars at City Tap, as I seem to make it there most weeks.

Open Mic Night at Unitarian Universalist Church on Wade Avenue in Raleigh a couple of weeks ago ... nice venue, good sound equipment, very receptive audience.  What more could you ask for?  Come on out ... 3rd Friday of each month @ 7 pm
