Has anyone used NiMH to replace alkaline's - I read that the voltage is 1.2 ...and the alkaline starts out at 1.5 but gradually reduces over time .... are the NiMH safe to use ?

I use Martin M-240 Bluegrass med/lights exclusively on my two Gibson acoustics...but I sue the other gauge 12 to 56. I buy them from Juststrings.com for $3.58 a pack and I get ten at a time. I have seen the heavier gauge set too, but I don't like them that heavy. The M-240's allow me to dig in on the bass strings and still bend the higher strings! I change them before each gig, which is every week to two weeks. I love them!

Comment by Tom Butler on July 26, 2012 at 5:02am Looks like my 1617, but with a rosewood fretboard? Beautiful! Model and year? My Legend is a 1981 in mint, but it makes a great travel guitar. Not as fragile as my Eastman.

With all the relevant certification in place there is absolutely no doubt that this Ovation guitar belonged to and was played by Cat Stevens.

I agree, if the guitar is in good shape (check the neck, the bracing, etc), the med/lights should be no issue at all.
