Thanks everyone, for your informative comments on my Balladeer.  I'm going to tweak my Craig's List ad a bit and hold out for at least $400 - this instrument is WORTH that.... and you've all helped me feel more confident about not caving in to the guys who say, "OH Man you are asking WAY too much for one of THOSE."

=)

Lots of Goodwill purchases of late... ;-)

I also have one of the AA14s with the aluminum neck. A very thin neck and I have hands that seem a little large for it but I really like it. Anybody know if the AA32 had an aluminum neck? I don't think so. Thanks.

I just bought this for 22 bucks. It will take a little work and I am hoping the electronics work. From 198? something I think.

Hi Nadine,

I have a Legend and Legend cutaway that match your Balladeer. It's a beauty. Wish I could buy it... but...

Hold out for the right price. I' d go $400.

Blessings,

Hi Nadine.  You are correct that the Celebrity Ovations are the entry level models.  The Standard Balladeer shown below has a Blue Book value of $450-550 in excellent used condition.  That being said, the guitar is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.  Good luck.  Eric

Hello All,

I am interested in knowing your thoughts on the differences between a Celebrity, and what I believe is a higher end model, The Ovation Balladeer?  I own a shallow-bowl Balladeer - it was given to me as a gift from a friend long ago.  It has the original owner's manual, hard case with key, three original shims, and from what I can tell it was built in 1986.  It has onboard electronics and sounds great.  It's just sort of cumbersome for me to play - the fretboard feels too big for my left hand, too round, or something - making it difficult to play.  I know someone out there would love it as its such an original.  I've been trying to sell it - but it seems lots of folks feel Ovations aren't worth much money.  I see it differently - it's no longer in production, was made in the USA, has original "everything" except for the strings, of course.  I'd love some comments from people like you who know about Ovations.  What do you all say about the value of an older Balladeer?  Am I trying to sell something of little worth?  Or is it an older classic that I should stand firm on getting its true value?  Thanks for any and all comments!
