I Think We Have a Winner Here! "Star 9"
I was going to put this off until after Holidays but sometimes inspiration hits so I recorded it while I was feeling inspired. Lyrics by Sue Mrithujayan. I am so impressed with Sue's lyrics! She has a real gift for songwriting. We just met and have already done two songs together. She's sent me a third song already. I really like how this one turned out.
Just like the last moment I heard her say

He thought again like yesterday

Gil, nice song! Sue writes a bit like me i think, kind of abstract, letting the listening fill in the blanks. I'm a big fan of that approach. Although i don't know what a 'star9' is, it doesn't really matter.

Thanks Paul! I have to help her a bit with language but she does write some great lyrics. I edit and switch arouund to make them work but the essence of what she writes is very much there.
I totally agree about the abstract writing style. I think too many people get hung up on literal meanings of songs.
As you said we have no idea what Star 9 is but it doesn't matter!
Listen to a Coldplay song or early REM and you know what I mean by lyrics in the abstract.
Wish I could write more in this style! -

Musically, I like it. Glad you are doing this. Googled Sue and found the video of "Never" so now I get it, confirming it's a good song just as I thought (couldn't understand the first two words, but now I do). This one confuses me, however, and I really don't get many of the references and images, although the gist is nice. Looking forward to the third one.

Thanks for listening! I just updated Soundclick with a new version taken from my video perfromance and also I cut two choruses which shortens the song. Also some minor lyrics tweaks. Have a listen to the updated version in the player above. Lyrics are up to date as well.
