Thanks Michael, I'm hoping to have newer version with the addition of bouzouki from my mate Gaz soon.

Lucky you Jud, because I live in Australia I didn't even get a copy of the magazine. There are 100s of not 1000s sitting around in just Nashville trying to write the next big county pop hit sending in lyrics to different contests etc...I'll try another route.

Thanks Marty.

Bob ... my feelings almost exactly ... just for the heck of it,  I've now entered three times and so far I've "won" three copies of the latest edition of the magazine, LOL.

I'm honestly not jealous, but I do wonder (as you say) how they determine anything much about a "song" just from reading a set of lyrics.  Obviously,  that's not a song ...

Jud, I have entered a few songs in the American Songwriters Lyrics quarterly contests...have never won or even got a mention. Having reviewed the winners lists over time I determined that my song generally don't fit the mold of what tends to win so have not bothered. I am not really in to music as a competition sport but I did in fact submit a couple of songs. If you look through the winners they tended to be Christian, Country, Lullaby, Love Stories not much in the hard hitting in your face social conscience stuff that tends to come out of my head. I also find it a bit odd that as a "songwriting" competition they would judge solely on that is poetry...until it is put to music it is not really a song is it. Good luck to any one that does...I would be happy to have the Gibson that they give away quarterly though.

Question:  anyone here ever won (or placed) in the quarterly lyrics contest held by American Songwriter Magazine ... or known someone who has ??  Just curious since there are some really good songwriters in this group.

Open D tuning but Baby Blue was standard tuning glad you liked it. I got myself tangled up with these computer Daw's like cubase etc., but forgot just how good the Seagull sounded till I noticed I'd had about 450 hits on you tube>Pneumonia started out as a nonsense poem and ended up a song. Now I've got tangled up with 3d animation.
