Hi Folks, thought I would post this tune for your fine ears to pick apart. Its off the new album from my band The Straw Men. Leave some feedback please, its arranged for acoustic guitar (capo on 5th, tuned to standard E) and bouzouki. Hope you all enjoy it.

Like most groups on Acoustic Guitar Online, only about 10-15% of those listed as members actually participate in discussions.

Hey Tom.

I'm not sure what the answer to your question is, but it sounds like a great topic for a song, or maybe a few songs.

I Can't Imagine.mp3

Here's another one I wrote about my wife for her birthday last year.

As you can tell I don't have the "old song/current love" dilemma because my old love is my current love. I think it would be tough to continue to play/sing a love song written for someone who was no longer emotionally connected, unless it's about pining for someone's love or lost love or something like that.

Thanks! I like yours too. Great finger picking! I hope your wife appreciates it.

Hey song. Great groove to it and good guitar licks....

Yep, sometimes women just get stuck in our heads and no matter what we do, they're what's going on in our minds.

I'll take my own medicine. Howdy songcraftmeisters! Here's a song I wrote recently for a beautiful young woman I was wooing. Ironically, she found a song I posted on here to a prior love interest and that did not go well... So I'll just do it again. It actually brings up the issue: Lots of songs are love songs. Lots of love affairs don't last but the songs persist. Do songwriters often have difficulty with coexistence between old songs and current loves? I'd love to hear your thoughts on both the song and the predicament.

Hands Together.mp3

Okay, Tom...I hear you. Here's my first song.

"Hands Together" is about my wife and I at our ocean-front cottage in Newfoundland.

I'm just learning to make home recordings.

It waxes and wanes Alan. Welcome. Best way to get it stirred up is to post a song!
