Jay, This page may answer your question: http://www.copyright.gov/eco/help-file-types.html If not, explore the Copyrighht Office Website further and see if you can find what you need.

In regard to the electronic US copyright office registration, does the office accept uploaded songs in the default iTunes format, AAC or mp4 format?

Hi all!

Today is our National Day of Prayer here in the US. A great time to pause and thank God for all He has blessed us with, as a nation and as individuals. Amen!

Yes, online registration is quicker and it only costs $35, for a single or for a collection. I made some comments about online registration in my March 26 post in the discussion titled "Service to legally establish the date of a song's origin" in this group.

Hi. I'm glad you have this group set up.
My latest experience with the copyright office has given me this info:
1) You can still submit a collection of songs, detailing the name of each separate track, and then give a title to the entirety. Something like: "My Stuff 4/09", for instance.
2) If you've got a previously copyright for a tune and have made some changes, it's best to send those tunes separate from others. If they were from the same previous copyright collection, you can send them together.
3) The cost is now $45.00 per submission (not tune). So I say "YES!" to the collections.
4) It takes a LOOOOOONG time to get the copyright verification back to you if you do it through the mail, like we are used to. I submitted a collection last May and am still waiting...but:
5) The minute you get that verification that the application's been received, you are protected by the rules of the copyright office. Usually takes about 5 days.
6) You can submit your tunes via the internet and the turnaround time is MUCH shorter. All the packages are being scanned since the anthrax scare and that's dramatically increased the wait time, in real time.
Hope this is what people are asking about here. I've got some info on ASCAP and BMI, too...but I've gotta drive my daughter to Target...then check out some amps whilst she shops. Dang...what a drag.
;)
