Walter, I am new to both as well. Relatively so anyways. I know I need help to play better, finding the help is a bit difficult as I am unemployed and I don't drive. It has become an obsession though, wanting to be able to play and play well.

Kevin, I'm a little partial to Guitar Center in San Bernardino. The crew there is fantastic. They don't rush or pressure you, always take their time with you....and the selection is pretty decent....broad range of prices and models.

The most notable is McCabe's in Santa Monica (mccabes.com) at 3101 Pico Blvd, with an incredible stock of fine acoustic guitars, and one of the best venues for top-flight acoustic performers.
