Acoustic Guitar Community

Welcome to the Acoustic Guitar Community.

Thought I would start a discussion in this new forum to give So. Cal. some good exposure. I want to talk about some great venues for seeing guitarists of all styles in So. Cal. area. I will start with the Lord of the Strings Concert series in Dana Point. This is a must see for fingerstyle players. The concerts usually hold about 100 - 150 people. There is a chance to meet the artists and talk with them. They have had guitarists such Laurence Juber, Pete Huttlinger, Martin Taylor, Stephen Bennett, John Knowles, Muriel Anderson. The list goes on and on. Check out their web page.

In addition there is McCabes guitar shoppe in Santa Monica. Great artists! There is the Fret House in Covina. Well, there's my start... add to it friends. Let others know what's available out here in wonderful So. Cal.

Grace First Presbyterian Church in Long Beach has a great series that 8-10 concerts a year in different styles. In the past, it has hosted David Wilcox, David Roth, PawnShop kings and Marley's Ghost. This year's line-up has just been posted and includes Laurence Juber (Oct. 2) and Doyle Dykes (Jan. 14) and Sligo Rags (Mar. 26). Info is up at www.gracefirstevents.org. Nice room, 350 max. capacity.
Vitello's in Studio City has Guitar Night every Tuesday night. It's hosted by the great John Pisano and has players like Jim Fox, Barry Zweig, Gene Bertoncini, Ron Anthony and many, many more. Great food, great music and always a wonderful chance to see and hear these great players up close and personal!!
