Takamine EG340DLX 7 Replies

I just bought this guitar.  Absolutely beautiful.  I was a little unhappy with the buzzing that i got when I would strum the guitar hard.  I put medium strings on it and it seemed to help a lot.  I…Continue

Wall wart for Takamine Cool Tube

Hello, fellow Takamine players. I play TF740FS and TC132SC, and enjoy both :-) The easiest (but not the cheapest) way to power up the CTP2 from the external power source is to use Takamine DI+. It’s…Continue

Hello, My name is Billy T. Midnight. I own a 1991 SW341. I LOVE IT. I have questions about this guitar if theres anyone out there who knows anything about this model. I own SW341 #30. Please help. I need to go as far as tracking down who and where my #30 was ORIGINALLY purchased. My serial number sticker has been taken out and Takamine told me the only way I can find out the serial number for it is to find the original owner and find out where it was originally purchased. Maybe the store would have a archived serial number for my SW341. Yikes!!! Sincerely, Billy T. Midnight

Hey Ya'll,

Dave here from Raleigh, NC.  Just wanted to say Hi and to say I've been a big fan of Taks for a long time and am seriously regretting the day I let go of a KC70 Kenny Chesney model I had a few years back and am in the market for another one here soon.  My opinion of them is that they are Jewel-like in construction (especially the Pros) and the electronics are the best in the industry.

I also own a small acoustic guitar store in Downtown Raleigh called "Hole in the Wood" and we carry a number of Brands including Takamine and Walden.  Look forward to giving my impressions on the new line-up of the Pro-Series models...

Hey Jeff,

Merry Christmas!  When I bought my Santa Fe classical at the Philly Guitar Show back in June, I too couldn't find much about it online.  So I went to the source to see if they could give me any info...Tak Customer Service!  I was pleasantly surprised with an email a few days later with info...turned out mine is a pretty special model...so, for info on yours, just ask!! askus@takamine.com

This is what they sent back to me after I asked them for info and provided my serial number...

Hello Ed,

Thank you so much for the interest and support for Takamine! Unfortunately the ESF60C was not in our price lists and catalogs as it was a “spike” model. Spike models are usually limited runs or models that were not available to all dealers. The factory was unable to give us production numbers or the year it was introduced. It was discontinued in 2003. The ETN60C was introduced in 2001 with a solid cedar top and solid mahogany back and laminate mahogany sides, your 2000 ESF60C must have been an earlier run that had a spec change after the ETN60C, so yours must have the solid mahogany back and laminate mahogany sides, then in 2001 that model became the ETN60C and the ESF switched to solid cedar top with laminated rosewood back and sides. Specs do occasionally change to distance themselves from similar models or newer models to broaden the consumer base. I hope this helps.

Also, this site lets you feed in your serial number and a bit of other info and get even more info!!!

Hi everyone. Just joined this group. I just started playing acoustic a couple months ago. I picked up a 1987 Takamine EF340. It plays beautifully but I can find little info online, and no info in Vintage Guitar price books, My question concerns upgrading the electronics. Would this be a mistake? I only paid $175.00 but I don't want to mess with it if it is considerably more valuable. Thanks.

Yep, they discontinued it so you should definitely hold onto it!  They seem to be nowhere to be bought!
