Anyone else have problems fitting the guitar strap over the electric end pin jack on acoustic/electric guitars? I've asked music stores and strap manufacturers and neither seem to think it's a problem....but it is...
Here is my solution (again since I got all the info and pics done then clicked add reply and got a message saying this page isn't working right. Try again later grrrr)
I make my own adapters from a 4"X1" piece of leather (4-5oz or 2 mm) with a properly cut 7/16" hole and 3/4" slit which fits most enlarged end pin jacks. The other end uses a decorative, screw on concho to secure it to the end of the strap.

Here's what it looks like attached to my Taylor DDX

Permalink Reply by Downtown Freddy Brown on May 10, 2012 at 2:41pm I am considering making these in a larger quantity and selling them. I'm not sure how wide a selection I wish to offer but I would make both brown and black leather and offer a choice of conchos. They would likely retail for around $10 - $12.

Check out "lockit straps." They are locking straps and they fit over the large acoustic end pin jacks...they are all I use now!

Permalink Reply by Downtown Freddy Brown on May 10, 2012 at 9:31pm I'm guessing you can only buy them online and not from music stores. That means shipping charges on top of the prices. I live in Canada and getting things from the US online is a big hassle and more expensive than it is worth sometimes. What size is the opening (dia.)?

Permalink Reply by Rob Hanesworth on June 18, 2012 at 8:06pm I buy only straps with a single layer of leather, either totally or at least at the attachments. Then I don't have a problem. Early on I had a couple of thicker straps and could never get them on.
Permalink Reply by Michael Holmes on June 21, 2012 at 7:30pm I LOVE the Byzantinne straps and have three in different colors, expensive straps and they are VERY Hard to get over the end pin. I actually worry sometimes I am using too much force on the end pin when trying to get them over the pin.
Permalink Reply by Downtown Freddy Brown on July 21, 2012 at 12:08pm The final product is now complete. I made them an inch longer than the prototype and have them in both brown and black. I settled on one style of concho (also a little larger) - the western star. The black adapter comes with a silver star and the brown comes with a bronze star. They are available for $10 each.

I call them Fit-Rite Strap Adjusters
I just use Perri's soft leather straps. I have one for each acoustic. They adjust easy to fit various end pins but when they expand for the big ends like my Taylor, I don't use them on other guitars with small end pins--they have their strap. They are not expensive and you can roll them up tight and put a rubber band around them and keep them in the case pocket. Then you won't show up at a gig with everything but the strap.
