Taylor expression vs older fishman prefix pickup... 3 Replies

So...   I'm looking at a few different used Taylors right now.   I've heard people argue both sides of this topic.  Some swearing by the old fishman preamp/pickup system, while others claim the new…Continue

Taylor 12 fret guitars. Which model do you have or recommend and what do you like about them? 3 Replies

I am in the market for a Taylor 12 fret guitar and was wondering what experiences others have had with these.  I am leaning towards the 522e with a Western red cedar top, which would be the same as…Continue

Enjoy, Francesco.  I've been playing my 810CE for 5 years now. Ive been to the Taylor factory myself. I used to live in that area and Know someone who works there.  I've thought about applying for a job !!

Congratulations, Francesco!  The 814 is an incredible guitar, and I think it's amazingly beautiful in sunburst.  I'm jealous of your visit to the Taylor factory; I haven't been there yet, even though I live in Arizona, just a few hours' drive away.  Welcome to the group!

Hi everyone, I'm new.

I'm italian from Rome.

Last summer I went in ElCajon and the factory tour was amazing! The guitars that most impressed me were GS mini ,small body - great tone, T5 great playability, baritone guitar 8 strings,"alien guitar" , 914ce Dave Matthews signature and 814ce."I went in love". When I came back in my country, in September, I bought 814ce sunbusted. Was very difficult to find it in Italy, infact in my country  there isn't the same culture that you have in USA and in England for this kind of musical instrument. I'm very happy because i think that this guitar is an artwork!

Hi Jim,

I bought my 814CE model second hand in 2009. Like James I didn't
know I could register the guitar in my name and then receive Wood & Steel. Thanks for the information, it's appreciated!!

Ok.  Thanks!

No, you should still register it.  You may not get the warranty protection, but it will register it as yours, and you'll receive Wood and Steel.

Unfortunately, I bought the guitar used from a music store.  Am I just out of luck?
Comment by Jim Handsfield on July 27, 2011 at 7:15am

James, when you register your guitar you'll automatically be subscribed to Wood and Steel.

I just got my first Taylor.  It's a 314ce.  It sounds great plugged in or on its own, and it is very easy to play.  Can someone inform me how to get a subscription to "Wood and Steel?"

Thanks,

James

Welcome to the group there Howard TAYLOR. Nice guitar the 814CE. I had a 914CE and an 855 12 string among many other Taylors. I am the one making noise about the nut width and string spacing on my new Taylor 12-fret cutaway with a short scale. It's appointments and size are very much like the 812CE. I love this guitar and have been playing it regularly since it arrived a few months ago. Nothing but good to report - ease of play, wonderful neck shape and great tone quality - just needs slightly wider nut and spacing to be perfect. If they would build the neck I want, I would order the same model with a Maple body / Cedar top / Koa binding and possibly an arm bevel.
