Ikrami,  Very Very Nice!  You're quite good my friend, quite good.  I really enjoyed that.  Any chance of getting the lyrics and chords for this?  I play in a C&W band and we play a lot more than simply C&W.  We're always looking for "Veteran" related songs to do, and we always give full credit to the authors of the music.

I joined this group not because I'm a veteran, but because I wrote a song called Veteran's Day and thought this group might be interested.

I just posted it to You Tube. The lyrics are Close Captioned.

Hey Mike,
I've been so busy with work but need to contact AG about doing an article! Have not forgotten. I'm hoping the upcoming CNN special will bring good things our way. This is a terrific promotion for our program!

Hi Sam! good to read your post and to know how much music has played a part in your life. I work with Veterans in the Guitars For Vets program in my home town of Richmond, VA. In fact, CNN interviewed us last week for a special that will air on Veteran's Day. When I find out the time, I will post it here. The focus will be on our program and its importance to our veteran
students. I hope some of you will have a chance to see it.

Hello Samuel,

Nice to make your acquaintance and glad to have you join this group.  I agree with you totally that music can be a salve for your soul.  I find it can be a solace and a joy, whether playing alone or in a group.

I didn't take my guitar in-country, but I did buy one through the exchange system and had it shipped to me.  It was an inexpensive Yamaha.

My name is Sam.  I'm a retired USAF E-8.  Vietnam vet.  Still play at the ripe old age of 66, soon to be 67.  I have a Taylor 816CE, a Yairi DY-59, a Little Martin with the solid spruce top, and a couple of electrics.  I also own a number of electric basses as that is my primary instrument.  Currently play in three bands, two as a bassist (country rock/heavy on the rock, and country/all era's), one as a guitarist (church praise band).

I've been using music to salve my soul since I was a single didget kid.  Best thing in the world for what ails ya'!

Hi Mike! Good to hear from you and that you have it in your heart to volunteer. I do not know if there is any G4V activity at your closest VA, but if you go to the website http://guitars4vets.org/chapter-links.cfm. and check your state, you can get in touch with any of the chapter coordinators and they can most
likely give you information. If no chapter exists at Palo Alto, consider starting a new chapter! I can give you more information about this if you are interested.

I live in the San Francisco bay area and would love to do some tutoring to any Vets intersted. The closest G4V looks like is Sacramento - way too far for me. I live in San Carlos which is about mid-peninsula between SF and San Jose. Is there any activity at the Palo Alto VA? That is very close to me.

Hi Michael! I certainly will ask and we'll see if the editors respond. Premier Guitar and Vintage Guitar ran stories in recent months. If any of you could email in support, it might help bring this to their attention. I 'll keep you posted.

Thanks!

Welcome, Louis!

I really like reading the good things about G4V. I would also like to see AG do an article. Peg - maybe you could ask them if you can do one?

Thx - m
