Ikrami -

Thanks. And thank you for your patience with someone who is computer illiterate. I never knew YouTube had cc capability to help my tired ears. I listened and watched again - I really like what you did.

Thank you

The lyrics are available in both versions in Closed Captioning. On the first version they are in the description area just below the video also. I could post them here if you'd like.

There are a few words that people just don't use anymore, but that's the way it came out. Some of it is based on the Gettysburg Address, some on classical mythology. I thought about some changes but it started to lose that old-timey, ethereal feel. So I just left it alone.

I noticed when we filmed the ceremony this year, the guns used in the salute ejected shells. In 1994, when I wrote most of the song in a restaurant across the street, the guns were much older and shot wadding all over the lawn. I did not change those lyrics either. Over 17 years one must expect some differences.

I did get some e-mails back from the Dodgeville vets. They appreciated our efforts. For those that don't have net access we're making some DVDs.

Thanks for your comments here.

Nice. Couldn't understand a lot of the words, but nice piece.

We filmed the actual 11-11-11 ceremony in Dodgeville, Wisconsin and incorporated some of the footage into the the video. I've posted it here and it's available on YouTube at http://youtu.be/WEf9f8EMPv8

Yeah, I wonder what happened to him.  I keep hoping to run into him, but no luck so far.  As for the Taylor, I got a monel 310CE.  It's an acoustic electric, with the greatest sound that I've ever heard.  It was my divorce present to myself!!   LOL  It seems that everytime I go through a divorce, I buy a new guitar.  But I am through with those and I guess I'm through with my collection......

Hi Danny. Do you ever wonder what happened to that WO? Maybe he'll show up at the group, huh?

What model Taylor do you have? I have always wanted one; they play so easy.

Ordered my first guitar from the PACEX catalog while in "Nam".  Some kind of 12-string, don't remember the brand.  Played it while in the rear, never took it out on missions, I had enough to carry.  Didn't even know how to tune it,  One day some Warrant officer came by and asked me what I was doing, and I told him I was playing my guitar.  He laughed and told me "no your not".  Then he tuned it, while showing me how.  Boy did it sound a lot better.  Been on and off with the guitar since then.  Finally got this Taylor and decided to commit again, this time more serious....

I'll put it on my You Tube channel eyekrameye and on my page here, like the first one.

I'm happy that they liked the first one enough to let us film. I really thought we'd be doing next year's ceremony, but this is even better.

The weather looks like 45 f and sunny. That's nice because we just got our first snow of the not quite winter.

We've received permission from the VFW and the American Legion to film the Veteran's Day ceremony in Dodgeville, Wisconsin on Friday. I don't know if I'll be re-recording the song, but we will put out a new video out that includes the actual ceremony.

I haven't started the lead sheets yet. Next week looks good for that.

Thanks for letting me participate in this group.
