This instrument was made in Lisbon in 1948 by master Álvaro da Silveira, and was bought, second-handed, by my father, in 1962 (or 63). The headstock features the traditional "scroll" of Lisbon-style guitars, and a hand-carved silver fanplate that holds the tuners. I know no better way to install 12 mechanical tuners in a small space. Reliable and elegant, it works perfectly after more than 60 years...
