Hello, Hola, G'day, Howzit...

I've had the occasional browse through the Acoustic Guitarist Community pages- now it's finally nice to be a member here...

Playing the Spanish guitar has always been a passion with me, a lifelong love affair...

As a self taught guitarist, I use classical guitar techniques, developing and applying them in interesting ways to other music styles.

So, with Latin, jazz, blues, flamenco, folk, rock... I take a song idea and 'shape' it into the piece I want it to be...

I love to use creative fusion of all of the above styles- it gives me freedom to compose, and means that I'm not stuck or restricted by any particular style of guitar music.

I constantly try to free my mind and my fingers to search for new and exciting ways to play music on the guitar.

If this this strikes a chord... Please leave me a message - I'll be pleased to hear from you...

'Bluesifying' a song...

Many a guitarists songlist has a few 'uninspiring' songs in it

They work - just - but they could do with a 'Boost'...

From 'Coming 'round the Mountains' to 'God save the Queen'

- Your song could be 'Rock' or even a 'Hymn'

- A 'Waltz' perhaps, even a "Calypso'

Most simple three chord songs - it doesn't matter what style

- can be transformed by being played as a slow 'Blues Shuffle' !

Broken Song...

If a song doesn't work for you - consider changing the key...

There are two main reasons for changing key:

For ease of playing - possibly using 'friendler' chord shapes

(Plus the new key may give you some 'free' open bass strings...)

And ease of singing - to avoid straining your voice.

Occasionally I move out of the guitar friendly CAGED keys - view my Youtube song…

Shaking the cobwebs out of an old song...

If you have a song that doesn't work...

Try changing the key.

Jump off the 'tramlines' of familiar chord progressions.

You can of course go further and change the rhythm...

Or the chords...

Try to 'Jazzify' it...

Even 'Bluesify' it...

These steps will quite often unleash potential that you didn't know you…

Welcome friend! I dabble in nylon string myself...also own a Ramirez. I have gone through periods where the nylon string guitar was my main instrument. Since acquiring a number of Martins I've been delving into bluegrass and ragtime...Martin's shine in this type of music.
I enjoyed your playing here. Very interesting style!
