Just keep on working on it. Take encouragement in the little steps you make, like being able to hit a chord without it sound like a cat being strangled. also, find a friend or group who are in a simi…

There are some picks that have a texture to them so (presumably) there'll be less chance of slipping. If can't afford or find one that you can live with, try either a small piece of tape or sanding the surface a bit with some wet/dry sandpaper.

Time signature doesn't equate to beats per minutes. It only relates to the number of beats per measure & what type of note gets one beat. In your example , there are 4 beats per measure & a quarter note gets one beat. In 3/4 ("waltz" time), there ar…

Ho, ho! Tablatures have been used for plucked string instruments music for centuries. Lots of baroque pieces for lute were written in tablatures. I do think that the standard notation is very good for keyboards, and other instruments, but tablatures…

Agree. I started out, in the mid-60s - with rock and roll. E-A-D... you're ready for your first gig! Try THAT on a classical where you're playing all alone and the neck is really wide and you have to keep your thumb behind the neck. And look at the…

David,
Welcome to the Acoustic Newb group. There are folks from all experience levels here and we learn a lot from each other. But there's no deep end to this pool, so jump in wherever you like. You can write a lot of songs with just those four chords you've already learned. Cool (but strange) picture too!
