Oh man! Thanks fro the ride in the Way Back machine! I'm on a road trip and just had coffee with Red Gillett, who was part of that scene. He remembered you. I speak regularly with Ray and Darlene, and see them about once a year. I remember Rob Maybe went on the road shortly after those sessions at Howell Prairie. He was touring with a guy named Hal Buckingham. They reportedly played one of my songs on this tour, something I wrote around that time. I was 17! I'm caught up in a theory fest right now, knowing that having modes and enharmonic equivalents in my muscle memory bank will make for faster arrangements. My daughter will graduate high school in two years and I fully intend to hit the road. The last decade or so has been productive in terms of new material and improved guitar skills but am not playing out much, which is fine. Whazzup witchoo?

Hey Doc,
I was listening to your hope page yesterday and I really enjoyed it
I think the cable guys that were coming in and out did too.
Thanks for the beautiful complement, I have been loving Joni for a long time!
I lived in Eugene OR off and on many times in my life so far and it's my dream to return there someday to live out the end of my life there.
I really think there is no place in the states that can match the beauty in Oregon and many songs I've written have to do with Oregon.
I hope your enjoying your week! keep in touch.

Doc,
The gatherings I was referring to happened a number of years ago and I doubt if we'd have any more in the near future unless someone steps up to plan one! If/when I get down to the Portland area, I'll be sure to let you know in advance.

Thanks for the info Doc. The three finger style is probably most like what I did with 5 string banjo and would be the logical choice for me. I'd be very interested in the info you have in your files. Blessings.

Hi Doc,
Thanks for the friend request and welcome to the Gospel Guitar group. I too hope that it becomes a site for mutual sharing and edification. Whereabouts in Oregon are you? We've had some NW AG Forum gatherings in the past and perhaps we can meet sometime.

Doc,

Are you familiar with the "aLaska" fingerstyle picks that are trimable and fit under the existing nails? I have short nails and hope they will help.

I am also thinking of ordering David Hamburger's fingerpicking course. Any thoughts on that? Thanks. Blessings.

Hi Doc,

Thanks for the comment. I don't think you would benefit from watching the videos I posted here and on youtube, but I welcome your feedback. I would appreciate it if you could take a look at my website for the book I wrote, especially the Table of Contents. Since my hand injury, I have tried to find ways to contribute to the music world, and I think my book, which is designed for students who are taking guitar lessons, may be a step in the right direction. I'd truly appreciate your thoughts and future recommendations.

Thanks again, and I look forward to sharing and learning with you and the other teachers and players here.

Sorry to take so long getting back Doc. I'm a Hospice Chaplain and my patients take a lot of time. I love Jazz and Blues too. At the moment I'm learning fingerstlye guitar. My banjo picking seemed to give me all the wrong habits for six string picking.

I'm enjoying your pics. Blessings.
