Martin Repair
Three weeks ago, I took my one year old D16RGT to the Martin factory. It had settled to the point where the action was high and the saddle had been taken down as far as possible.
Lon, the friendly, knowledgeable head of repairs, put on a lower bridge. He had previously changed the nut, but this time he also changed the saddle. My wife and I have been practicing for a blues competition this Sunday.
I recorded tonight's practice on a small hand held recorder. It features an original song, with a standard blues intro. My wife is playing acoustic bass, and I'm playing a Martin DCX1E. She's singing the lead while playing bass.
It's all one shot...no overdubs, but you can get a sense or what we're doing. Later, I hope to make a studio recording of the same song.

Should be lites. Going to have to change um out, their to heavy, an may pull on Bridge. I just wanted to try out the Elixer nano but Not Med..! Yes, I want to try the Martin SP as well.......thanks, let's get back to the forum

- Thanks for the comment on the pickup. I was thinking of getting a sound hole type. Volume control is something I didn't think of, but need and use with other guitar.

Looks like a wonderful guitar. I played a pre war D 45 once that belonged to David Bromberg when it was in a shop for repairs in Philadelphia. It's been decades, but I still remember the tone.
Are you going to Nazfest or Maxfest?
It was a special guitar, made to honor the original CF and put in the original Martin Family home along with tools and his original workbench, which was a site to behold itself! All of this "stuff" is now located in the Museum.
I am not familier with Maxfest, but I have heard of Nazfest. Never been to either. Please provide me with the dates and I'll see if I am not booked anywhere. Can't do family trips during the week, and weekends are often booked, so it makes it hard. I hate it when someone says "Hey, I am playing at so and so, come out and see me" and invaribly I will be booked the same night...then again, can't complain! I do have more control now than I have ever had because I (or one of the trio) do all of our booking now. I went the agent route for years and you have to turn your life over to them...and they don't like to hear that you are busy or going to be busy! But then you can't blame them, that's how they make their buck! I have also had too many friends screwed by agents too, skimming off the profits...but that's like saying that all car dealers are bad! Anyway, give me some dates and I'll see what I am able to do. Also, do you ever go to the Philly Vintage Guiutar show? It is twice a year just outside of Philly and I am due for a treat like that this year! Here is a link: http://www.bee3vintage.com/
