Martin D-28P

I have a Martin Custom shop 000 and love it but I always thought the sound of the D-28 was the bee's knees of acoustic tone.  I came close to buying one several times but the clunky neck put me off. …Continue

Blueridge Guitars

I just picked up a Blueridge BR180 used.  The extensive mother of pearl attracted me but when I picked it up and played it, I was blown away.  Solid rosewood back and sides and spruce top--terrific…Continue

Hi JB

I notice you don't have any Taylors...do you have an opinion on them? I don't know much about them, but have the chance to buy a buddy's 455-12 string at a very reasonable price. I do have 2 Martins,etc...but not Taylors. I don't know if there will be an advantage to having it. Thoughts?

thanx and enjoy the day!

Wow ... You have a lot of guitars.  Do you play them all regularly?  Which one is your "go-to"?

Right now, I play a Seagull S-6.

I'm about to get a second guitar in the $1,000-$1,200 range.  I've been "kicking tires" for a couple of months now.  Tried pretty much everything.  I'm basically a strummer/flat-picker.  Don't do much finger-picking.  I have a little artritis in my hands.

I'm a Seagull fan because of the 1.8 inch nut thaqt is standard.   Seagulls are an absolutely great value in my opinion.  Have you played them??  For $600, you can get a solid spruce top, solid mahogany sides Maritime model that is supurb.  No fancy touches.  The Artist series at about $950-$1,000 gets you the pearl inlays, etc.

I liked the Blueridge's I played, but the only models they had were 1 11/16 nut which I cannot live with.  I need at least 1.75. Is your new one 1.75?

Right now, I close to getting one of the new Martin PA4's w/ 1.75 nut.  But, for some reason, I have been hesitant to pull the trigger just yet.

Not really much of a country songwriter honestly. I write pop jazz stuff for an artist named Rachel Pearl, and I've done a lot of CCM stuff nothing big, but have worked with a few artist in the christian music world. I mainly do fingerstyle guitar for TV PBS etc.

Just looking for every which way to make something out of playing the guitar,
