"Hi James I have these S&P Woodland Pro Folk guitar, and in my opinion it is a great guitar. With reference to the string height, I set mine just under 1/8 inch for the low E string at the 12 fret, with the first fret, freted. This gives great…"

"I would say that's a wee bit high, but if there's plenty of saddle left it should not be a problem. I usually aim for 6/64" action on the low E and 5/64" or so on the high e. To lower the string height by 1/64" at the 12th,…"

String height

I have a chance to acquire a mint S & P Woodland Pro Folk in a trade.  The only thing I'm concerned about is that the owner tells me the string height at the 12th is 3/32" on the high E and just a bit more on the low E.  Does that not seem awful high, or is it just me?  I don't want to make a trip to see this thing and find out the action is way high.ThanksSee More

Hey there....I really hear you on the arthritis in the hands. Brutally bad of late, especially when it is cold and rainy. But, I'm determined to get back in the mix. I've learned in the last 4-5 months that even when it hurts and it frigs up my playing, it's better than not playing at all.

Hang in there and have fun...

Good idea.....I'm likely going the next few Fridays so let me know if you are going to drop in and we can connect.

Just curious, if you are a 'rookie' how come you have so many good guitars?
