Nice, pleasant stuff - easy to listen to. Where to go? As a singer, I'd naturally think of lyrics, but you can take that same concept for an instrumental: verse - chorus - bridge, which typically works into an Intro VC VCC B CC Outro sequence, with…
What I love to do to train my ear is play a song that I love and sit there with my guitar and try to play with it. Figure out what the chord progression is, figure out what the melody is, and then play on top of it. It's a great drill that I end up…
Hey guys! I haven't posted some of my original stuff around here in a long time (at least with AG in general). I have been working on some new original solo fingerstyle pieces but have hit a brick wall with almost all of them. I really don't know wh…
Oh, and one more thing since I can't find the edit button:
Please sit back and learn how to do classical guitar first, and master that before trying to enter into anything more advanced. If you don't have the basics down, you will never be able to…
Watch, listen, and replicate.
It's the best way you can learn that sort of innovative style. Some people give tutorials about how to go about doing it, but just sit and watch and play.
Also look into Petteri Sariola, he has a few interesting tuto…
As many of the other people have pointed out, there is no definition to what the chord progression SHOULD be given a melody line.
Are there ones that work better than others? Of course. Are there rules to decided what works? Nope >.
I love to see another Antoine Dufour fan. I saw him live about 2.5 yrs. ago in a show that was the big daddy of em' all. Bundy, Mckee, Dufour, and Turnbull all under one roof, and for about $15! I went mostly to see Trace Bundy since he is a local, but thought that I'd see some decent fingerpickers on top of all that. Back then Mckee's youtube frenzy hadn't even taken hold, and I'd never heard of any of these guys until that show. I went on youtube the next day and watched in amazement as some of the most ridculously fresh players I'd seen in a long time showed off their "heavy wood". I got to shake Dufour's hand that night and didn't think he'd ever be able to top his old stuff.....then came Existence. One of my top 10 favorite albums of all time, and one of my top 2 acoustic favs (the other one bears the Mckee moniker) :) Keep jammin' dude!
