"Jud......nice tune...& well-played. But I agree w/ getting closer to the mic, bumping up the volume...and definitely keep the hat. Looking cool...while playing the guitar...does it get any better?"

"In the same vein....I bought a nearly new ACS....nylon string + synth access.....wide neck, like a classical. GREAT guitar....and speaking of that 335....I own a '67 ES 345....so I have a benchmark for comparison. As I suggested in an earlier…"

"WNEW-FM in NYC. I was a teenager working @ night in a drive-up convenience store that mostly sold milk, bread, etc. We always had the radio cranked since there were no customers inside the store per se.So....New Year's Eve......and we had…"

"I've owned a Godin LGX for a while...and that's been a very nice guitar. Sort of a marriage between a Tele and an SG...w/ a piezo pick-up in the bridge for acoustic sounds as well. BUT....I just bought an ACS...that's a nylon string…"

"I own an SWS MiniJumbo that I play fingerstyle on...mostly. A little larger than the folk body style, but quite manageable. With the electronics, it's in the $700 to $800 range w/ a case....in the USA. I do concur w/everyone who recommends the…"

Joe Brancato replied to Ian Miller's discussion Truss rod adjustment in the group "Seagull" Spoken Here ... (also fluent in "Godin" Gab)
"Once 'baptized' by adjusting the truss rod, you'll be shaving the saddle next to adjust the action depending upon the climate/humidity. [Things are pretty dry in NH right now, even w/ 2 humidifiers going 24/7. So, my SWS MiniJumbo…"

"If you are going from a '12' set to a '13' set it may not be a problem. As far as the additional string tension, you may be able to check the specs on a vendor's site such as JustStrings.com. Whether or not you would have to…"

"The cedar definitely provides a warmer tone - whether you think this is nicer is up to you... Also, IMHO, a satin finish will perform better for fingerstyle than a gloss finish, all other factors being equal..."

"The Norman ST40 folk is cedar/mahogany, no cutaway, and has a slotted headstock, but of course also has the 1.72 nut that you 'gulls might find too constraining!"

"Actually, an 1.25" difference in the lower bout is considered "huge" in the guitar world. I have both the Simon & Patrick MJ and the Seagull SWS Folk. Both have a spruce top, mahogany back, and sides; however, the folk is hands…"

Better fingerstyle guitar....SWS MJ vs. Folk Mosaic?

I'd be interested in the opinions in the players/owners who've had the opportunity to compare these two guitars. I've got the MJ, but the Folk is nearly identical in dimensions...and I wonder if the cedar provides a nicer/warmer tone? Thanks for your feedback.JBSee More
