As we all know, living in the desert is tough on acoustic instruments.  It's going to get worse with fall approaching.  I've been making my own humidifiers for a few years now and it's much cheaper…Continue

"I have always used Martin Silk & Steels on my Seagull parlor.  On my Yamaha dreadnought I'm not as picky.  As long as they're non-coated, phosphor bronze strings .12-.54, any brand will do.  I have…"

"I also play bass and I always use my amp to amplify my acoustic.  It seems to warm up that harsh piezo tone.  If it sounds a little muddy fool around with mid-range settings.  You can get a decent one for around $100 or less."

Sanding an acoustic neck

I sand down the necks on my basses and refinish them with boiled linseed oil.  I love the feel and I play a little faster because of it.  A friend of mine picked up one of my basses to fool around on it and flipped out how good the neck felt on it.  He asked me if it could be done to his acoustic.  Not sure so I'm asking you guys.  Has anyone done it?  Should it be done?See More
