What type of music do you like to play?
I used to play mostly my own music which I'm not sure how to characterize. Lately I've been learning/playing blues on both acoustic and electric. I'm just getting into playing rock and finger style. I'm also playing a lot of pop songs acoustically to entertain the family.

Taylor GS8e Decision

I have a chance to buy a Taylor GS8e for $1981 out the door. It is on clearance at Guitar Center. I wanted a 814ce, but I played the GS8e and loved it. I don't need it though and $2000 is a lot of money to drop on something I don't need. I have too many guitars as it is. I could pay off a bill with that money, but it is such a good deal on the guitar, because usually you don't get a discount on new Taylor guitars. Decisions, decisions!!

Hi,

Have you played on Peavey Austin 400 with acoustic guitar? how it can be compared and rated with today's acoustic amps of AER, Schertler, Bose, Ultrasound ...
Thank you for your time!

Sincerely,
Mikheil

Oh, Ok. Thanks. The message seemed to vanish, so I then sent an actual private messgae. I hope they don't mind. Thanks for your help. :)

Hi Kirsten,

I hope your doing well. Hey, what does it mean when someone has "chosen to moderate comments"? Someone recently added me as a friend and when I tried to send a comment to them, I got that message.

Holy damn! If I had all those I would be in guitar heaven! Wow! Nice collection. I'm putting a new band together now, and thanks to your help, I will have squeeky clean pots!

I have a Schecter Hellraiser with a Floyd Rose Tremelo and locking neck. Cherry Red and I love it! I also have an old Fender Mustang which is in rough shape. I would like to restore it someday maybe. I no longer have a six string acoustic, but I do have an old Epiphone 12 string. It needs some work though.
What do you have? I'll check back in the morning... It's late here and I'm falling asleep. I'm on the East coast.

Hi Kirsten!

Thanks for the nice welcome. I'm am actually more of an electric player, but that's probably because I don't have an acoustic guitar right now. I have a classical guitar though. :)

I was actually wondering about your Peavey Autin 400 Amp. I have one. I bought mine twenty years ago... or something like that. Have you had any noisy pot or connector problems since you had it? I've never used contact cleaner or Pot Cleaner and was wondering if you know how to clean the pots and connectors on the amp?

Hello Kirsten, That Hagstrom Viking from your collection caught my attention. How do you like it? I love the styling of the Hagstrom line, though I do have so many other guitars that are calling to me. I found a 1983 Hammer Phantom A-5 under someones couch and paid $50. for the thing. Check the pics on my page and see what I did with it. Good to meet you. GA

Be careful of "Clearance" instruments from the Guitar Center and never buy one that is marked "AS IS" as that usually means that they have made a repair, and sometimes the repair is not apparent. Just make sure that it is on clearance because they haven't been able to move enough of them, or that it has been replaced by another model, etc. and that it is not beacuse that instrument has a problem! We never "need" instruments, we just have to have them!!! :-) Take it from me, I have aobut 30! Anyway, here is the address to my website. If you get a chance to visit, please feel free to sign the Guestbook!

Thanks, Edward

I really like the GS8. It has great tone, probably one of the best I've heard in any Taylor. Sound projection is also great, almost on par with the Martin dread I have. I am not too fond of the electronics. I is probably just me but I have not been able to get the tone I really like to hear in an acoustic. Overall though, it is a great guitar that give me a different tone than my Martin.
