"Hi, I have an Alvarez-Yairi CY118 classical guitar made in 1991 that I purchased new. It's the only classical guitar I own, and it's my "go to" guitar, played daily. I play all styles of music on it, and often play it at…"
"I'll try to make Koinonia on Friday. I played there once -- great people. Also, I think the Wake Zone open mic is tonight. I might drop in there as well. I keep forgetting that one because it's a once-a-month event."
"Years ago, a friend who was a jazz guitarist bought a 7-string George Van Eps Gretsch guitar. He gave up on trying to emulate the style of George Van Eps and sold the guitar to me, as I was also interested in that style of playing. That got me…"
"Hey Jud, thanks for the tip. Also check out The ArtsCenter in Carrboro. They have a lot of interesting shows coming up: Genticorum, Nu-Blu, Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen, and more. My blog (http://michaelbaryla.com) is on their…"
"Good discussion. I've lost interest in electronics because currently for me the most rewarding performance experience is when you can connect with an audience with just voice, guitar, and a good song. To Michael Jackson's…"
"There's a new Writer's Night Open Mic at Cornerstone Tavern in Raleigh's Glenwood South on Monday nights. The focus is on original songs. See https://www.facebook.com/writersnightmondays and drop them a message if you plan on…"
"Well tonight was a total waste of time. Drove to Apex to find the Wake Zone mysteriously closed for the evening, despite what their web site said. Then headed over to the Upper Deck in Cary because their web site claimed there was an…"
"Just a heads up that the Wake Zone open mic is this Thursday 8/15 at 7pm, I believe. I've also discovered one in Zebulon this Saturday 8/17 at the Eclectic Intellectual cafe. I think it's new. Sign up is 6:30pm."
Great! You'll enjoy City Tap ... I might see you there. I've gotten pretty tied up with some personal matters that have kept me away from open mics for a few weeks now. Hopefully things will clear up and I can get back in the groove.
Hey Michael ... great to finally meet you last night. Sorry I had to leave early and really sad that the open mioc is shutting down for the summer. Meanwhile, the one at City Tap in Pittsboro is a good one and so is the one out at Koinonia Coffee House in RTP (both 8-10 pm on Wednesday unfortunately) Hope to see you at one or the other occasionally!
