Workshop in Seattle WA: : "NOT for Guitarists Only" at Dusty Strings Music Store & School

June 7, 2014 from 1:30pm to 3:30pm
I'll be conducting one of my favorite workshops, hosted by Seattle’s Dusty Strings: “NOT for Guitarists Only: Improvisation as Spontaneous Composition.”Many people think of improvisation as some mysterious skill that happens “over the chord progression.” We’ll look at it a little differently in this workshop for all musicians of any level—yes, even beginners. Explore my Creative Process, my Three Artistic Principles and how they apply to improvisation, and work through my step-by-step process…See More

Fingerstyle Guitar Workshop with Michael DeLalla at Mojo's Music Academy

June 6, 2011 from 7pm to 9pm
Learn some of Michael’s techniques for adding a new dimension to your playing. Develop independence in the right hand to create a more multi-timbral style; find your voice of expression without sounding merely “guitaristic”; learn to transcend the instrument the way the greats do!

Would you like to host a house concert?

To all my friends and fans in the east and midwest: I'm currently booking a July tour around a guitar workshop I'll be teaching. I would love to fill out the calendar more with a house concert or three. I'll be in VA/MD/DC/WV for two weeks starting July 4th weekend. So I could land a date the week before or on the way back to CO,perhaps in Indiana, Missouri, or Kansas. I have a comprehensive "How To Host a House Concert" guide that helps the first-time concert host through the details. Let me… Continue

Live Music: What is it Worth to You?

Greetings, Friends and Fans.

After finishing up 2009 with a wonderful tour in Florida I’m home for the next few months, and thought I’d take the opportunity to do a little research regarding live music and its place in our busy lives.

We’re all so busy. We all spend more and more time on “social networks”—definitely networking, but how social is it? Likewise, we access music in so many more ways than live and up-close—we download, we trade files; once in a while we even… Continue

And thank you Eric, for the kind words! I see you're a builder--perhaps I'll get the chance sometime to try out one of your guitars. By the way, I'm doing a solo show in Boulder this Sunday--a little bit of a hike from Erie, but if you're inclined it would be great to meet. Warm regards, Michael
