My Sunday is progressing nicely...about to head to the kitchen for some Sunday Dinner. Here's a tip for you: to help build your callouses, gently buff the ends of your fret fingers with an emory board, the friction will speed up the process of making your finger tips tougher.

Hi Michael,

Love your spirit. I came to the guitar as an adult also, nearly 30 at the time. Began seriously practicing at 33. Anything is possible. Take it one note at a time. Be gentle with yourself. The results can be amazing with guitar playing or anything if you plug away each day. Let me know if I can assist you in your pursuit.

Michael,
if you're looking for lessons check out any issue of Acoustic Guitar, you'll find a ton instructional videos and cd's and books, most of which are very reasonalbly priced. I'm self taught, and it can be a struggle..but I stuck with it, and still playing over 50 years later...and still learning about the guitar. I can ever offer you any tips or suggestions, just pop over to my page and leave a comment.

Greetings Michael...and welcome to the AG Community. If I read your discussion properly, you are practicing playing notes on a single string...if so, in tab, an open note is designated by a small "o" above the string at what would be the "nut" on the guitar. not sure what "AARGGH" means, unless it's the sound of frustration. I think you also mean "tablature" as apposed to "tablet". Anyway, get hooked up with the Newbies Group here on the site...lots of useful tips and suggests for beginning guitarists.
