"Hi Mark. It can get kind of confusing. I bought a DN3 and love it. Now it's called a 310. Not sure why. Check Taylor's website and see if there is a road show event near you. If there is, I hear they are great at answering all your…"

"Andy, I swear except for the being from Scotland part, our stories are identical. Stay with it and enjoy the journey. I started as a way to quit smoking. 17 years smoke free and my wife can sometimes recognize what songs I play."

"Thanks Craig. That looks awesome. I really like the look of the PRS SE Angelus top and decided to go with the Taylor clear pick guard. I ordered it and put it on. Got the exact results I hoped for. When I showed it to the various members of my…"

"I picked up a Soprano for cheap during a sale at Musician's Friend. It kind of helps me when I get into a rut with my guitar. A whole new tuning and different fingerings sort of helps. I don't know why. "

PRS SE Angelus

Hi, thought I'd ask around for some opinions. I recently bought a PRS SE Angelus. So far I've been really impressed with it. I do have some minor knicky knack complaints but I'll save that for another time. It didn't come with a pick guard, and I'm thinking I might want to put one on it. Anybody have any thoughts on what would look right or fit? I looked at the Taylor clear pick guard and they do make one that is close to the rosette ring size, and it's for the Grand Symphony shape that is…See More

Connected?

Driving through the storms yesterday, I had plenty of time to think and I guess reminisce. One of the songs from Pink Floyd's the Wall came on the radio and it took me back in time. Gotta love it when that happens. It always amazes me when someone in a different country, of a different age, can write a song and it feels like it was written for you. Roger Waters to me, is a brilliant, gifted, troubled, angry man. Kind of unsettles me that his music, more accurately, his words connect with me.…See More

New discovery!

This isn't really about acoustic guitars, but here goes. I've been on a kick lately where I think I want to get a new amp. I have a great little Marshall MG15DFX. Sounds good. But I've been obsessed with getting a small tube amp. It's really ridiculous since I just bought a new Taylor DN3. It's my new favorite. Most expensive guitar I've owned. I have found that sometimes, I just open the case to look at it. Crazy! I know. But I started thinking about this amp thing right before I bought the…See More

Facing my fears

I had become fairly obsessed by the time I had been attempting to play for a couple years. I was practicing about 30 minutes a night 5 nights a week. It was even getting to the point that my wife and son actually stayed in the room with me while I practiced. My wife inadvertently helped me in my obsession by buying me books, and strings and picks etc for birthdays and Christmases.

I was successful in quitting smoking though, thanks to the guitar obsession. Whenever I had the urge for…

My lifelong obsession with these pieces of wood.

I have been obsessed with guitars for as long as I can remember. A friend of my Dads brought one to our house when I was around 5. I thought he was some kind of god or magician. The sounds coming from that acoustic amazed me. It hasn't stopped amazing me.

As I grew up, anytime I would hear songs with loads of guitar, I would stop and just listen. Not really good during work or school or in the middle of conversations. My friends kind of got used to it though. We never really had the…
