Phil Manuel - Worry Me Not About Tomorrow

Phil Manuel's Blog

Ashokan Farewell...

Not much to say about this tune, it's just a new American standard, with a melody so beautiful and pure.  Written by Jay Ungar, it's a fiddle tune that plays well on any instrument.  Read Jay's account of how the tune came to life, and subsequently became a featured song in the Ken Burns Civil War series. Check out the man, himself, playing it...…

Thanx, Phil

What a GREAT idea! The only thing I would have wished for on it would have been, had he played the same tune on all 3 for what I thought would give the best comparison.

Hey Phil,

thanks for the invite. Happy to contribute if I can to the band idea. I'm short on recording equipment at the moment, but feel free to move the process along without me....I'll catch up.

Hi Phil

Thanks for the comment, I  intended to learn back in 2009, but, had a problem with cancer, and had nothing but health problems since, so now I'm hoping to try again.

I think with al these guitars I should be able to play something lol.

My options are limited, as I can't really get about much!

Any Ideas as to how to go about this, I really am a beginner.

Thanks Again

Paul

Thanks Phil, I really need to get rid of a few!  I have been trying to post a video (my first one) on the Beatles site, but it is upside down on my computer, and can't seem to turn it around.  I wil leventually  figure it out! - your friend- Mark Young

Phil - Thanks for joining the Beatles group. I have had a lot of trouble getting this on board and it still won't accept the photo I'm trying to load nor will it accept the text. When I do enter those, I am asking all who post here NOT to mention the name of the derranged piece of trash who murdered John Lennon. I want to recall and honor their music and discuss their lives - not the one who murdered John. His name should not be remembered. I truly hope you agree with this one thing I ask of folks at this group.
Thanks again - Michael

Phil,

I'm late to the conversation here so pardon my ignorance. I haven't read what your wrote about all the guns and violence that plagues our society but based on what I have read you make sense.

I get into debates with extreme right wing, wingnuts over guns. I believe you do have the right to bare arms as our constitution says however, DO YOU REALLY NEED TO OWN THAT ASSULT WEAPON THAT DISCHARGES 500 ROUNDS PER SECOND FOR SELF DEFENSE??? Get real. And the slogan guns don't kill people, people doesn't wash. If you have the means easily at your disposal it makes it so much easier than say a baseball bat where you have to be in close proximity and might even look into the eyes of the victim.

Okay enough gun talk. Thank you for your comment about my posting "The Big Boot". The experience was a new one for me and left a bad taste in my mouth for sure. But I've picked myself up, dusted myself off and started looking at band listings again. I guess I'm a glutton for performing in the band format and can't get enough. But this time there will be no mention of my owning a PA! At least until I know where the ensemble stands on the issue.

If indeed you are leaving the forum you will be sorely missed! I've enjoyed reading your postings and the slight camaraderie we've had across the multitude of groups. It would be great if you would reconsider but if you don't I understand. Hopefully others will too.

Stay in touch! It's not often I find a person so engaging and who knows his shit. Your a good man Charlie Brown :-)

Phil,

Sorry to see you say you're going to leave the AG forums.  While I may not be for more gun control or agree with everything you say, I am for everybody being free, as you are, to express yourself any way you feel led to.  We need voices like yours!  If anyone is offended, especially by the firm yet gentle way you have expressed yourself, I'd say you've made an impact just as much as you inspire those not offended to think harder about our culture and society, and after all, that's one of the benefits and purposes of art.  Jesus offended a lot of people, but look at the fruit of His ministry!   And I'm free to say that, not knowing who in my hearing is a Christian or not.  Don't stop speaking.
