A Shark Story

Brief History

Most RainSong guitar necks feature our signature "Shark" inlay.

Originally, when RainSong Graphite Guitars was still in Maui, Hawaii, we started using Dolphins as inlays. Within a few months we were asked to "cease-and-desist" by another guitar maker that claimed to own rights to the use of Dolphins as guitar neck inlays. Rather than incurring the legal expense and time delays to fight the claim, we looked for other inspirations from our beautiful environs. Enter the Shark… Continue

To Brace or Not To Brace

Since the beginning of time (we do not count time before guitars were invented!), builders and players have argued about which bracing scheme produces the loudest and most balanced tone. To this day, one can readily find threads on on-line forums with topics like “Shaving Braces for better sound”, “X-bracing… Continue

The Role of Truss Rods in Carbon Necks

Carbon necks pretty much do it all!

CARBON NECKS DO NOT WARP

Wooden guitar necks can warp and become unplayable. Humidity changes cause wood to absorb moisture and swell or to dry out and shrink resulting in warped necks. Additionally, when the fingerboard wood contracts, the frets become too long and… Continue

I love my Rainsong JM-1000. Such a unique tone and it plays excellent.
I'm just finishing up my application for a grant from the Arts & Science Council to shoot video for my upcoming DVD and my Rainsong will be a critical tool in getting the perfect sound .. I can't wait to start filming. :)
Thanks for creating such an awesome guitar Rainsong ..

I am continually impressed with RainSong guitars. I now own four and I have to say that they are the most stable and dependable guitars I have. The tone is pure and balanced making the guitars very easy to mic. As an extra bonus, the baggage handlers can't hurt them and neither can the weather. I love how light they are too, especially when compared to other similar guitars. -- Al
